Lymph Drainage Therapy (LDT) is a method of light touch bodywork developed by Bruno Chikly, MD, of France over the past 30 years. Lymph fluid surrounds every cell and circulates through the lymphatic system of the body. Lymph transports proteins, carries cellular waste away from the tissues, and carries 90% of our disease-fighting white blood cells. The lymph fluid circulation is critical to life. A person would die within 24 hours if it stopped circulating.
The therapist works with flat hands, using all the fingers to enhance gentle wave-like movements of lymph that exist in the healthy body. These subtle hands-on maneuvers promote the flow of lymph and interstitial fluid through the body. Healthy lymph flow also improves functioning of the immune and parasympathetic nervous systems.
Lymph Drainage Therapy is deeply relaxing, and can show visible results of reduced swelling in a single session.
Results:
Lymph Drainage Therapy can reduce symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia, detoxify the body, and induce deep relaxation to reduce stress. Stress often causes/leads to sleep and memory problems and loss of vitality. Lymph Drainage Therapy stimulates the body’s healing after surgery, and can cut surgical recovery times in half. The therapy can also be used to clear swellings and cellulite deposits, both due to lymph stagnation. It is also used to treat autoimmune disorders and to aid trauma release from the body.
Testimonial
Five times, prior to my hysterectomy, Mimi Rhys worked on draining my sizable stores of lymphatic buildup. I had heard that lymphatic drainage before a surgery helped speed healing time. Mimi, I discovered, had a new drainage technique in her considerable bag of tricks. (I had had lymph drainage with five or six different practitioners over the last twenty years – all to no effect.) The lymphatic drainage was a God send.
