Integrated Manual Therapies for Pain Relief & Enhanced Life

CranioSacral Therapy

Do you get frequent headaches? Do you have low back pain that you have taken to the massage therapist, chiropractor, doctor, and you have not found the relief you were looking for? Do you have an achy jaw or face? Do you play a contact sport? I suggest you try craniosacral work which looks at these problems in a different way.

CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of the craniosacral system, the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord and the fluid that circulates around them. The therapist accesses this system by working with the skull, spine and sacrum to affect the Dura Mater membrane which is composed of tough connective tissue. Restrictions in it can cause pain, affect vision, hearing, cause the back vertebrae to become dislocated, and put pressure on the spinal nerves that enervate the organs, causing them to malfunction. Also, restrictions in the body, the muscles, joints and organs can in turn affect the craniosacral system.

Using a soft touch no greater than the weight of a nickel, CranioSacral practitioners like me release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the body’s core (skull, spine and sacrum) to which it is intimately joined.

Clients frequently experience a deeply relaxed, peaceful state during the therapy because the para-sympathetic system is activated.

Physical Symptoms Addressed

CranioSacral practitioners use this therapy to treat neck and back pain, headaches of all types, TMJ syndrome (jaw pain), sinus conditions, traumatic brain injury, and chronic pain conditions, including fibromyalgia.

Results

Clients experience physical pain relief from head, neck and back pain when craniosacral restrictions are released. Because the core of the body has been treated, the benefits affect the whole body.

This therapy has also been used to treat mental stress and to clear emotional barriers held in the body energetically, in part by activating the para-sympathetic system.
